She lists her birth as November 1826 in OH and that she had 8 children, four living. Living would be Josephine, Ruth, Pearl and I assume Molly. Deceased would be George A, Martha, Laura, and an unknown child. (note that Effie is still living but not listed - she was d/o Newton) |

Based on the following account, Elisha may have been in, or looking at land in KS as early as 1844.
Because Elisha's son, 5 year old George A. is buried in IL in 1856, I assume he was living in IL at that time. But, I do not find him in the KS census reports until 1870. His brother Joshua also eventually settled in KS. Joshua can be found in IL continuously between 1850 and 1866.
Elisha died intestate which means with no will. In such cases only the spouse and heirs of the body may inherit. Effie was not listed as an heir.
Daughter Pearl was born in KS April 1873 which places them in KS by 1873
of Ohio township, Franklin County, KS. (1875 census)
Children were: George Abraham (b. 1851 d. age 5- bur in IL) // Martha Ellen b/d. before 1893 // (from records of Louisa Keys) Josephine - b. 1857 (Mrs. Christian BARHAN) // Ruth -b ca 1859 (Mrs. David M. (1900 census) |
|||||||||||||||||||||
Mrs. Allen J.( Effie A.) GOULD (still living in 1968) Effie is sometimes listed with Elisha's family, but she in actually the daughter of Newton & Martha Dunnuck who were still living in 1880. Several have indicated that she was raised by Elisha. Adopted/guardian?? This should be checked out - Franklin Co. KS
