Contributors to this page: N. Gene DUNNUCK, Sue HASCHEMEYER, direct descendants of Joshua.

 Directions to Mentone Cemetery:

Take State Road 25 to Mentone IN. Intersecting State Road 25 aka "Main" is Broadway. Turn south on Broadway and go 1 block to "T". Turn left. This goes directly to cemetery. As you ente, the Dunnuck stones are in the back right corner.

Joshua is said to have died on the "Big Leesburg Prairie" and I assume buried there. I have been unable to located a tombstone but did find the following: Conflicting sources (two biographies and two obituaries) give his death as April 1838 & 1839.

Source: "Leesburg township history", Combined Atlas Map of Kosciusko County, Indiana, publ. 1879 by Kingman Brothers, page 41 and The Biographical and Historical Record of Kosciusko County, Indiana, published by the Lewis Pub. Co., of Chicago in 1887, page 688.

Early records show after July 4, 1848, John W. Dunnuck paid $2.00 toward the purchase price of $40.50 for 1-1/2 acres of ground to be used as a grave yard for Leesburg, IN [Might his father be buried there?] (... burials began in July 1848.
"Leesburgh" was the oldest town in the county, laid out August 1835)

This is the family of Benjamin H. Dunnuck. Flora and William are his children by first wife Nancy who is buried in Mentone - (above).
Sarah is his second wife. When Sarah Sarag died, daughter Ruby had them all moved together. I believe that is the reason their are two stones for Benjamin.
