William Marrow DUNNUCK, was born in Pickaway County, Ohio near the town of Darbyville on May 30, 1837
and died April 28th at Peru at the age of 79 years 10 months and 28 days after an illness of two years. The last
few months of his illness he was confined to bed. (note: another almost identical obit gives
the county as Piqua - Pickaway is correct)
Mr. Dunnuck was united in marriage to Hannah Clarkson Miller of Peru Indiana on June 9th 1861. Eight
children were born to them, five still survive, with 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Mr. Dunnuck enlisted in Company G, 51st Indiana Volunteers under the command of Francis M. Constant, being enrolled
on December 9th, 1861, for a service of 3 years, but owing to his disability for service was discharged June 23rd,
1862, at Gons Creek, Alabama. He later enlisted in Company L, 12 Regiment Indiana Cavalry serving until the close
of the Civil War under Capt. Ethan Thorton, being discharged at Vicksburg, Miss., on November 10th, 1865.
He spent the greater part of his life in Miami County, Indiana. Being left an orphan early in life was brought
to this State by his uncle and Aunt Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Keys, both preceding him in death.
Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peru, IN (now 2002 called Mt Hope Cemetery) |

Note: William Marrow's mother, Elizabeth KEYS, first wife of Elisha Dunnuck, died in
1837. His father remarried in August of that year to Mary Dillsaver..and lived until 1894
In the 1850 census, 13 year old William is listed in the census with his father Elisha and wife Mary in Kosciusko
Co. IN. In the 1860 census, William, now age 23, is listed in the household Thomas and Elizabeth Keys in Miami
County, IN. |

Hannah Clarkson Dunnuck was born in (Knightstown) Henry County in the year of 1843 on June 20 A.D. She died June
30, 1934 at the age of 91 years and 10 days.
She was joined in wedlock to William Marrow Dunnuck in the year of 1861 on her 18th birthday.
To them was born eight children: Manerva, Elisha, Abraham, Cleon, Omer, John Anna and Earl, three of which still
live to mourn her passing. Abraham, Cleon and Omer. The younger of the three is Omer age 62. She also leaves 18
grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
After the death of her husband who passed away April 27, 1916 she made her home with her son Cleon and family in
Indianapolis, Indiana. There she ad a good home and was well taken care of until her passing. She was a member
of the Methodist Church joining in her younger days. She was a faithful member until the end and worked until her
health failed her. In time of trouble she always looked to him who doeth all things well.
She also leaves a host of friends to mourn her passing. |
